Two-year cooperative agreement will advance low-cost, wide-area methane leak detection for oil and gas producers
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., July 27, 2026 – Geofinancial Analytics, Inc. (GEO USA) has been awarded a US$ 1.25 million Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) cooperative agreement by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to build, test and verify an AI-enhanced hybrid satellite and ground monitoring solution for low-cost, wide-area methane leak detection. The Phase II award follows GEO's successful NSF SBIR Phase I project on tiered multi-satellite methane monitoring. SBIR, America's Seed Fund powered by NSF, provides non-dilutive funding of up to US$ 1.25 million per Phase II project to startups developing deep technologies with broad societal impact and strong commercial potential.
All IP developed under the NSF SBIR Phase II grant is available to GEO Canada without restriction and at no cost.
