Methane leakage from energy production and distribution is a solvable problem at relatively low cost. This is made easier by AI-powered satellite analytics which can quantify leaks at point sources and identify owners of the corresponding facilities.

Earth’s average surface temperature in 2024 was the warmest on record. The new record comes after 15 consecutive months (June 2023 through August 2024) of monthly temperature records — an unprecedented heat streak. Methane is by far the most potent greenhouse gas, contributing significantly to this streak – and emissions are still rising. Approximately 1/2 of methane emissions come from leakage associated with energy production and distribution.
